Melanie has been part of Lungs at Work since 2007, beginning as the clinic receptionist and growing into her current leadership role. As Executive Director of Operations, she oversees financial management, communications, grant writing, and daily operations, while supporting the clinic’s medical and legal advocacy work.

She has developed extensive knowledge of the federal black lung program and is passionate about helping miners and their families navigate a system that can feel overwhelming. Melanie also leads strategic planning and sustainability efforts to ensure Lungs at Work continues to grow and serve miners for years to come.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time at the beach with her family and volunteering at her church.
